Cookie policy

Updated:

Draft pending legal review. This text is not yet in force. Items marked [POR COMPLETAR] (to be completed) and [VERIFICAR] (to be verified) are resolved with the lawyer before publication.

1. In short

siluo.app does not use advertising or tracking cookies, or third-party cookies to profile you, and it does not store anything in your browser’s storage. That is why we do not show you an “accept cookies” banner: there is nothing to accept. If that ever changes, we will ask for your permission first (section 8).

This policy only covers the siluo.app website. The Siluo iPhone app has its own rules, explained in the Privacy policy.

2. What cookies and local storage are

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser to recognise it later. Local storage (localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB) is similar: data a website leaves in your browser. Both can be used for necessary things, such as keeping a session, or to follow you across visits and websites.

3. What siluo.app stores in your browser

What Used by siluo.app Detail
Own cookies No None.
Local storage No The language is in the address (siluo.app in Spanish, siluo.app/en in English), not in your browser.
Page memory Yes, temporary What you enter in the lab and, if you tick “Donate my measurements”, that visit’s random identifier. They only live while the page is open and are forgotten when you close it. Nothing is written to your device.
Normal browser cache Yes Your browser keeps copies of the fonts, images and 3D model so the page loads faster. It contains no data about you and you can clear it in your browser settings.

4. Cloudflare security cookies

Cloudflare, which serves the website, may set security cookies when it detects automated traffic or asks you to pass a check:

  • __cf_bm: tells people and bots apart. It expires after about 30 minutes of inactivity.
  • cf_clearance: remembers that you passed a check. It lasts about 30 minutes by default.

According to Cloudflare, they are strictly necessary for the site’s security, they belong to this website only and they are not used for advertising or to follow you across websites. That is why they do not require consent. [VERIFICAR] Which bot protections are enabled in siluo.app’s Cloudflare dashboard.

5. Analytics without cookies

To know how many people visit the website and how far they get, we use:

  • Cloudflare Web Analytics. A small Cloudflare script counts visits: page visited (without the address parameters), referring website, approximate country, device type, browser, operating system and load times. According to Cloudflare, it does not use cookies or local storage, does not store your IP and does not follow you across websites. It keeps the detail for 7 days and aggregate data for up to 6 months.
  • Journey counters. When you start using the lab, stay on a projection with your measurements, generate, share or save the card, or tap “I want Pro”, your browser adds 1 to the counter for that step, that day and that language, even if you do not tick the donation box: they do not carry your measurements. No identifier is sent; each step counts at most once per visit.

None of this stores anything on your device. To curb abuse, the database limits how many times each connection writes per day using a scrambled summary of the IP that is deleted daily (section 5 of the Privacy policy).

If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control or “Do Not Track” signal, the Cloudflare script is not loaded and the journey counters are not sent. Donating your measurements in the lab is a separate thing: it only happens if you tick its box, and it is explained in the Privacy policy.

The website links to sources (for example, the WHO or NICE). If you open them, those websites apply their own cookie policies.

7. How to control it

  • You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; siluo.app works the same.
  • You can block the analytics by blocking static.cloudflareinsights.com (for example, with a content blocker).
  • You can turn on Global Privacy Control or “Do Not Track” so the Cloudflare analytics is not loaded and the journey counters are not sent.

8. If this changes

If we ever use cookies or storage that are not strictly necessary, we will ask for your permission before using them, with a banner where “Reject” is as visible and easy as “Accept”, and we will update this policy with its date.
